A lot of waffle about my life on a small property in Australia and the people and animals that share it with me.

Malaysian Vegemite?
The Lovely Husband and I ate out at a Malaysian restaurant recently, it was beautiful and authentic but I could not help but photograph this part of the menu. Check out the ingredients in the Mama Prawns. What the...?
I'm a vegetarian and I don't think I've ever tasted vegemite... assuming its a veggie thing. I always think about though when I hear the song "I come from the land down under." I know they are talking about Australia, but I can't help but think about those trapped coal miners who were "down under" a long time. I wonder if they ate vegemite while down there.
Strangely enough Vegemite contains no vegies. It is a concentrated yeast extract and very strong in flavour which is where a lot of newcomers to the product fall down. In my opinion it is best enjoyed lightly 'smeared' on buttered toast or bread, mmmm. I actually think it is banned in some countries including America because of some weird rule about vitamins being added or some such.
